John King
TILT Brass revisits John King’s spectacular work for brass sextet and live electronics, Astral Epitaphs. It was written for and premiered by TILT during the Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s final concerts at the Park Avenue Armory.
Also on the program: world premiere of Kosmos for string quartet featuring Conrad Harris & Corneilus Dufallo on violin, Yves Dharamraj on cello, and King on viola; and TILT, the quartet, and several more heavyweight local musicians also giving the premiere of (climax in) The Deserts of Love, an indeterminate work for large ensemble and soprano, featuring Melissa Fogarty. A poetic reduction of the Arthur Rimbaud text.
